PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia Union have signed MLS all-star Maurice Edu to a multi-year contract.

Edu joined the Union before the 2014 season on loan from Stoke in England's Premier League.

He had three goals and two assists in 31 league matches and scored the Union's goal in the 3-1 loss to Seattle in the U.S. Open Cup final.

Edu played for Toronto in 2007-08, then joined Glasgow Rangers, where he won three Scottish Premier League titles and scored twice in the Champions League.

Edu played the United States in the 2010 World Cup and the 2008 Olympics. He was among the final seven cuts from last year's American World Cup roster.
