DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Republicans in Iowa have decided to carry on with their presidential straw poll, despite criticism from some prominent Republicans. The Republican Party of Iowa's central committee voted unanimously today to keep the event going. Committee members say the poll energizes the party base and serves as an important early test of campaign strength. Detractors call it a sideshow. The event on the Iowa State University campus will be held in August.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel's prime minister says he will try to increase immigration of French Jews amid what he calls a "rising tide of anti-Semitism" in Europe. His comments come a day after four French Jews were killed inside a kosher market in Paris. MIAMI (AP) — George Zimmerman has been released on a $5,000 bond after being arrested for allegedly throwing a wine bottle at his girlfriend. Authorities in Florida say he was arrested last night in Lake Mary on a charge of aggravated assault. A judge has ordered the Zimmerman to avoid contact with the woman, who wasn't identified. The former neighborhood watch volunteer was acquitted of second-degree murder in 2013 after shooting an unarmed teenager.
