WINCHESTER, Ky. (AP) — A high school student in central Kentucky has died from meningitis.

District Superintendent Paul Christy told WKYT-TV (http://bit.ly/1BqljLU) 15-year-old Cole Hon, who died on Tuesday, will be remembered as a "phenomenal young man" and "beloved friend" who played soccer and made straight As.

He said counselors will be available for anyone who needs them when classes resume.

Christy said district officials have been in touch with public health officials and were told that the meningitis was not contagious. He said crews are cleaning classrooms and buses this week as part of routine maintenance.
