PITTSBURGH (AP) — Micah Mason had 14 points to lead six players in double figures as Duquesne held on to knock off Texas Pan American 78-72 on Tuesday night.
TySean Powell was 5 of 6 from the field for 13 points, Dominique McKoy made all five field goal attempts for 12 and Darius Lewis, Derrick Colter and Jordan Stevens had 11 apiece for Duquesne (5-6).
The Dukes led 41-34 at the break and were up 68-59 with 3:08 remaining in the game. Pan American's Shaquille Hines made two free throws, a layup and nailed a jumper to pull to 68-65 with 43 seconds left. Mason answered with a jump shot and drove for a layup for a 72-65 advantage. The Dukes then made the needed free throws to hold on for the win.
Janari Joesaar had 22 points and Hines added 20 for Texas-Pan American (5-8).
