SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — State troopers say a man in his 50s has died after he crashed his car into an SUV parked on the side of Interstate 80. The Utah Highway Patrol says the driver of the SUV had pulled over to check on the occupants of two vehicles that slid off the highway near Parley's Canyon Monday night. No one else was injured.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Division of Air Quality says new pollution controls and several storms helped keep the state's air cleaner this year. An annual environmental report also points to $1 million in new money to research the issue. Utah's air can be among in the worst in the country, especially in the winter when weather conditions trap pollution in the bowl-shaped mountain basins.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah wildlife officials say a coyote hunter accidentally shot and killed a federally-protected gray wolf near the city of Beaver over the weekend. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources says the hunter mistook the wolf for a coyote and contacted the agency after realizing the error. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife agency is considering penalties.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The U.S. Geological Survey says two minor earthquakes of 3.7 magnitude and 3.2 magnitude hit central Utah late Sunday night about eight miles southwest of Nephi. The first earthquake of 3.7 magnitude occurred at 11:08 p.m. Just before midnight, an aftershock registered at 3.2-magnitude.
