NORMAL, Ill. (AP) — Reserve guard Justin McCloud scored a career-high 18 points to lead Illinois State over Division II Quincy 99-57 on Monday.

McCloud was 5 of 6 from the floor — all 3-pointers — as the junior college transfer played his most significant minutes of the season for Illinois State (9-4).

The Redbirds never trailed against the lower-division Hawks. Illinois State raced out to a 21-6 lead over the first 8 minutes of the game. A 16-0 run midway through the first half — including three 3-pointers by McCloud — pushed the lead to 24 and Illinois State led comfortably at the half, 59-23.

Illinois State scored 14 of the first 17 points of the second half to extend its lead to 73-26 before easing to the win.

Quincy made just 2 of 13 attempts from beyond the arc. Josh Schaben led the Hawks with 15 points on 7 of 7 shooting.
