NEW YORK (AP) — Franz Rassman scored the game-winner with 0.9 seconds left in overtime to lift Loyola-Maryland over Fairfield 61-59 at the Brooklyn Hoops Winter Festival on Sunday.
Eric Laster's shot missed with five seconds left in overtime, but Tyler Hubbard scrambled and grabbed the rebound while falling out-of-bounds, and fed it to Rassman to win it for Loyola.
Hubbard scored 21 points to lead the Greyhounds (4-7).
Amadou Sidibe scored 13 points and had 13 rebounds, and gave Fairfield a 59-58 lead with 2:17 left in overtime before fouling out at the 1:53 mark. The Stags missed two layups and two free throws down the stretch.
Laster tied it at 55 with 1:16 left in regulation. Dezel Brito then forced a turnover from Marcus Gilbert with 51 seconds left, but Loyola couldn't answer, missing three shots to force overtime.
Gilbert scored 14 points but had five turnovers for the Stags (4-8).
