JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — It's a scene of anxiousness and despair at the airport in Indonesia's second largest city. Officials say there were heavy storms in the area at the time, and the pilot had just requested permission to climb to a higher altitude to avoid clouds.

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — A fire on a ferry carrying 478 people from Greece to Italy has left one person dead and trapped hundreds on its top decks. Darkness has fallen, but Italy's defense minister says rescue operations will continue throughout the night.

A judge ordered the 24-year-old woman to undergo a mental health evaluation.
