LOS ANGELES (AP) — Kobe Bryant was given the night off while Ronnie Price provided 17 points and eight assists in the Los Angeles Lakers' 115-105 triumph over the Golden State Warriors. Carlos Boozer had a team-high 18 points on 8 of 11 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds to help Los Angeles improve to 9-19. The Warriors fell to 23-4 despite Stephen (STEH'-fehn) Curry, who had a game-high 22 points on 10 of 14 from the field.
CLEVELAND (AP) — Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving and LeBron James combined for 73 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers won for the 12th time in 15 games, knocking off Minnesota 125-104. Love scored 20 points in his first game against the Timberwolves since they dealt him to Cleveland last summer. Irving finished with a game-high 29 points and James chipped in 24.
UNDATED (AP) — Fourth-ranked Louisville was a winner in its final tuneup before Saturday's game against No. 1 Kentucky. Wayne Blackshear hit his first seven shots en route to a career-high 31 points in the Cardinals' 80-55 pounding of Cal State Northridge. Stanford pulled off an upset as Anthony Brown scored a season-high 25 points and Chasson Randle added 21 to lead the Cardinal past ninth-ranked Texas 74-71 in overtime.
UNDATED (AP) — The Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning continue to share the NHL's Atlantic Division lead after beating the top two teams in the Metropolitan Division. Tyler Johnson recorded his second career hat trick while the Lightning built a 4-0 lead in a 4-3 victory against Pittsburgh. Carey Price stopped 37 shots and the Canadiens scored the last three goals in a 3-1 triumph over the New York Islanders.
BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Rakeem Cato has capped his record-setting career by leading Marshall to a 52-23 win over North Illinois in the inaugural Boca Raton Bowl. Cato threw for three touchdowns to extend his single-season school record to 40. He also extended his streak of throwing at least one touchdown pass to 46 consecutive games, tying the NCAA all-division mark.
