MIAMI (AP) — Dwyane Wade has no problem if Josh Smith decides to join the Miami Heat.

Wade says he knows that a number of teams would like to add Smith, who was waived earlier this week by the Detroit Pistons despite having completed not even half of what was a four-year, $54 million contract.

Miami's pitch to Smith includes the opportunity to start alongside Wade and Chris Bosh. And the Heat could use some help at forward with Josh McRoberts likely to miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery on Monday.

That surgery allowed the Heat to apply to the NBA for an exception that would allow them to offer Smith a contract worth about $2.6 million.
