LAS VEGAS (AP) — Marcel Mosley scored 25 points to lead Arkansas-Pine Bluff past Southern Utah 70-61 on Monday in the consolation bracket of the Las Vegas Classic.
Mosley was 5 of 12 from the field and hit 13 of 14 free throws.
Ghiavonni Robinson made three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points for Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-9). Tevin Hammond had 12.
James McGee scored 16 points for Southern Utah (2-7) and Race Parsons added 12.
Parsons' layup with 1:56 left pulled Southern Utah within four at 65-61, but Trent Whiting answered with a basket, Mosley went 1 for 2 from the line and Robinson converted two free throws for the final margin.
A.J. Hess' 3-pointer and James McGee's free throw on Southern Utah's next possession gave the Thunderbirds a 28-13 lead with 4:01 left in the first half. But Robinson answered with a 3-pointer to spark Arkansas-Pine Bluff's 11-2 run to close out the half.
