MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Jacquez Rozier scored a career-high 18 points, and Middle Tennessee sealed a 65-47 victory over Tennessee State with a late run on Sunday.
Reggie Upshaw's dunk put Middle Tennessee (7-5) up 53-42 with 4:45 left, sparking a 10-2 Blue Raiders run while halting Tennessee State's 10-1 run to get within nine.
Upshaw made all three of his field goal attempts and both of his free throws to finish with eight points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Rozier was 6 of 7 from the field and 6 of 8 from the foul line.
Marcus Roper scored 10 for the Tigers (2-10) in their ninth straight loss. Darreon Reddick and Christian Mekowulu each added nine points and eight rebounds.
Middle Tennessee led by 13 at the half and had its largest lead before the final score at 50-32 when Marcus Tarrance made a 3-pointer and three free throws on back-to-back possessions.
