FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Alec Peters scored 23 second-half points — including Valparaiso's final five — and the Crusaders came from behind to beat IPFW 75-72 Saturday night.
Isaiah McCray made back-to-back 3-pointers to close out the first half and put IPFW up 42-33. Valparaiso rallied back in the second, scoring 13 points in the first 3:30 to lead 46-45. The Mastodons quickly regained the lead but Valparaiso continued to threaten, breaking a tie to go up by six points after Peters' 3 with 2:24 left to play.
The Crusaders (11-2) did not score another field goal, however, and McCray's three-point play put IPFW within one point with 56 seconds to go. Peters sank both of his free throws with 10 seconds left, and IPFW missed its final 3-point attempt.
McCray led the Mastodons (6-4) with 17 points, and all of IPFW's starters finished in double figures.
