Wyoming sees increase in flu cases

GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming has seen a surge in the number of influenza cases over the last week.

The Wyoming Department of Health reports that confirmed flu cases in Campbell County have doubled over the last week.

The Gillette News-Record reports (http://bit.ly/1zOcvRI ) that Campbell County health officials implemented a visitor restriction at a local nursing home after two residents were confirmed to be infected.

Kim Deti is spokeswoman for the state health department. She says the department is monitoring a significant increase in cases statewide.

Natrona County has been hit hardest, with has 176 reported flu cases. Campbell County has seen 39 cases.

Deti says three flu deaths have been reported so far in Wyoming's 2014-15 season. There were 12 deaths in the 2013-14 season.
