Smith paces UT-Martin past Presbyterian 77-60

MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) — Deville Smith scored 23 points and dished out nine assists to lead Tennessee-Martin past Presbyterian 77-60 on Saturday.

Smith was 9 of 15 from the floor and hit five of the Skyhawks' 11 3-pointers. Twymond Howard finished with 16 points, Alex Anderson added 12 and Marshun Newell had 11 with nine rebounds and six assists for UT-Martin (7-3).

William Truss and Jordan Downing led the Blue Hose (4-8) with 12 points and Truss grabbed eight rebounds. Markus Terry chipped in 11 points and Austin Anderson had seven with 10 assists.

Smith hit a pair of layups to ignite a 19-5 run for UT-Martin in the second half. Anderson hit a 3-pointer and Smith's jumper gave the Skyhawks their largest lead, 56-35 with 10:21 remaining.

Presbyterian shot 49 percent, but couldn't keep pace with UT-Martin, which finished 29 of 50 from the field (58 percent) and 11 of 21 from deep.
