ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Jamel Outler scored 17 points and Johnny Hill added 12 to lead Texas-Arlington to an 89-50 rout of Division III Howard Payne on Saturday.
Outler hit five three-pointers, and Hill finished with 4-of-5 shooting from the floor. Greg Gainey added 11 points, and Brandon Williams chipped in nine points, eight rebounds and six blocks for Texas-Arlington (6-4), which shot 32 of 64 for 50 percent from the floor.
Texas-Arlington never trailed, taking a 10-point lead six minutes in and led 39-25 at the break. The Mavericks opened the second half with a 15-6 run, capped by Lonnie McClanahan's layup, to stretch their lead to 54-31 with 15:11 to play.
Khyce Randall scored 14 points and Ty Davis had eight points with five rebounds to lead Howard Payne. Curtis Gile also grabbed five boards for the Yellow Jackets.
