LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — The Philadelphia Eagles go for a series sweep over Washington for the fourth time in six years when they visit the Redskins today. The Eagles have fallen a game off the pace for first in the NFC East with two straight losses. Robert Griffin III returns as the starting quarterback for the 3-11 Redskins, who have lost six in a row.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Browns have placed safety Tashaun Gipson on injured reserve with a knee injury he sustained four weeks ago. Gipson was having a Pro Bowl-caliber season, leading the NFL with six interceptions when he hurt his knee on Nov. 23.

DALLAS (AP) — San Antonio will be trying to shake off its second straight triple-overtime defeat when it hits the road to take on Dallas tonight in NBA play. The Spurs dropped a three-OT decision to Portland last night, after losing to Memphis Tuesday, both at home.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Trail Blazers are back at it tonight at New Orleans after grinding out a three-overtime win over the Spurs last night. Northwest Division-leading Portland has won four in a row but has suffered four of its six losses on the road this season.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Cincinnati basketball coach Mick Cronin has an aneurysm and will be sidelined indefinitely while doctors decide how to treat it. It was detected when 43-year-old coach got tests this week to see why he's been having headaches.
