WINTER PARK, Fla. (AP) — Niya Johnson made the go-ahead basket with a minute left as No. 9 Baylor defeated No. 19 Syracuse 74-72 Friday night, giving coach Kim Mulkey the win in her 500th game.

Syracuse had the ball with 16.1 seconds remaining with a chance to tie or take the lead, but a driving shot by Alexis Peterson fell off the rim and Baylor (9-1) held on for its eighth straight win.

Diamond Henderson hit five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 27 points to lead Syracuse (8-2). Briana Day had a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

The game was tied at 70 with roughly three minutes to play when Day banked in a shot from the top of the key to put Syracuse in front.

Baylor, however, answered with a basket by Sune Agbuke to tie it and then Johnson hit the go-ahead shot.
