CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose is sitting out Thursday night's game against the New York Knicks because of an illness.
Rose had played in 11 consecutive games as he works his way back from the torn meniscus that ended his 2013-14 season. He is averaging 16.8 points and 5.1 assists per game for Chicago, which lost Monday in Atlanta to end a three-game winning streak.
Kirk Hinrich is starting in Rose's place. Forward Taj Gibson (right ankle) is also out, but center Joakim Noah (right ankle) is in the starting lineup after missing four games.
Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau says he doesn't know if Rose will travel with the team to Memphis for a game on Friday.
