OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Geovonie McKnight and Eric Washington scored 19 points apiece as Miami (Ohio) beat Longwood 71-60 on Wednesday night.
McKnight also had four rebounds and five steals for the Redhawks (3-7). Will Sullivan scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds and Rod Mills added eight points from the bench.
The Redhawks jumped to a 19-3 start and led 31-21 at the break. A 12-4 run to open the second period extended their lead to 44-25. The Lancers (3-8) fought back to within 7 points with the help of 3-pointers by Quincy Taylor and Kanayo Obi-Rapu Jr. but fell behind again by double digits as McKnight, Washington and Sullivan finished with 8 of 9 shooting from the line.
Taylor led the Lancers with 16 points, five rebounds and three steals. Longwood committed 21 turnovers during the game.
