PHILADELPHIA (AP) — At least three people are in custody at a Philadelphia high school where officers recovered a handgun from a trash can.
Samuel Fels High School in the city's Summerdale section was placed on lockdown Wednesday while officers searched for the weapon.
A school district spokesman says the unloaded revolver was found in a trash can in the school's weight room.
He says school administrators called police around 10 a.m. after a student reported seeing a gun inside the school.
He says the student showed them a cell phone photo of the weapon.
Cruisers and police vans could be seen lining a parking lot driveway as officers led people away in handcuffs.
Photos taken inside the school showed officers in body armor as students huddled against a gymnasium wall.
