SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (AP) — Police believe a teenage boy who was reported missing in Northern California was fatally struck by a 50-foot-tall tree that fell during last week's storm. The South Lake Tahoe Police Department says someone discovered the boy's body in a wooded area Saturday afternoon. His family had reported him missing Thursday night.

FALLON, Nev. (AP) — A Churchill County man shot and killed a mountain lion after it attacked ducks on his property. Nevada Department of Wildlife spokesman Chris Healy says the 110-pound, 4-year-old male was killed Thursday southwest of Fallon. He tells the Nevada Appeal the Lahontan Valley around Fallon probably is home to five or fewer mountain lions.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Regional officials say the Reno area can handle a growth spike fueled by construction of Tesla Motors' $5 billion battery factory, but it will involve a hefty price tag with uncertainty over who will foot the bill. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports regional officials think the area is well positioned to provide water and housing to as many as 6,200 new residents by the time the gigafactory opens in 2018. But officials say sewage is a costly challenge.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada Republican Party leaders have passed a resolution designed to end dissension within the ranks of the Assembly GOP caucus. The resolution calls on Assembly Republicans to unite behind the caucus leadership or face recall elections. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports party leaders expressed concern that moderate caucus members could join with Assembly Democrats to force a new leadership team.
