HOUSTON (AP) — Individuals looking to purchase health insurance during the second round of open enrollment under the Affordable Care Act have until Feb. 15 to sign up.
But if they want that insurance to begin Jan. 1, the deadline to make that happen is Monday.
Residents who bought insurance during the first enrollment period would not need to do anything as they will likely be automatically reenrolled in their 2014 plan or a similar one. But health advocates and insurers are urging people to carefully review their plan as better ones could be available this time around.
In Texas — which has the highest uninsured rate in the nation — more than 733,000 individuals selected an insurance plan during the first enrollment period.
