Holy Cross uses late run to beat NJIT 76-66

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Justin Burrell scored 18 points on Friday night, and Holy Cross pulled ahead with a late run to beat New Jersey Institute of Technology 76-66.

Anthony Thompson's three-point play capped a 12-2 run that put Holy Cross (5-3) up 60-50 with 5:45 to play. The Crusaders made 14 of 17 free throws from there and NJIT (4-6) got no closer than within seven points.

Burrell finished 2 of 3 from 3-point range and made all 10 of his free throws while Malcolm Miller added 17 points and Malachi Alexander 13.

The Highlanders led 30-28 at halftime and played back-and-forth through the first 10 minutes with Ky Howard's free throws tying the game at 48 with 9:49 left.

Howard had 23 points, Damon Lynn scored 14 and Tim Coleman added 10. NJIT outshot Holy Cross from the field, but had 17 turnovers and 14 missed free throws.
