CLAY, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a 5-ton storage pod fell off a truck at a New York facility, crushing the woman who was trying to unload it.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says 38-year-old Alicia Henderson was unloading the portable storage unit from a truck at the PODS facility in the town of Clay on Thursday afternoon when one of the straps got tangled.

Deputies say Henderson was attempting to free the strap when it gave way, causing the pod to release and land on top of her. An employee using a forklift nearby came to her aid and used the vehicle to get the pod off her.

Police say Henderson is in critical condition Friday. She is a truck driver from Casselberry, Florida.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
