SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah's Snow College is getting a new leader.
Gary Carlston has served as the school's interim president since January, and on Thursday the Utah Board of Regents announced his appointment as president in his own right.
Utah System of Higher Education officials say Carlston has worked as a teacher, principal and superintendent in elementary and junior high schools, as well as a professor and administrator at the state's public education system.
Carlston is also a native of Sanpete County, where the Snow College is located, and has served on its board of trustees.
He replaces Scott Wyatt, who was named president of Southern Utah University last year.
Snow College is a two-year school with about 4,600 students in Ephraim, about 120 miles south of Salt Lake City.
