FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Retired Brazilian superstar Ronaldo has joined the ownership group of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

Ronaldo said in a statement by the North American Soccer League team on Thursday that he plans to be "very involved" with the management of the club and hopes to help make the Strikers a "global powerhouse."

The Strikers are named after the original NASL franchise. They play in a new version of the NASL, which is in the second tier of North American pro leagues.
