CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — More than 70 students at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine plan to participate in a "die-in" to protest the lack of indictments in the deaths of two unarmed black men killed by police officers.
UNC students say the protest will occur Wednesday, which is International Human Rights Day. The students will begin the die-in shortly after noon at Bondurant Hall.
They're protesting the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and Eric Garner in New York. Brown was shot to death, and Garner died in a chokehold. Grand juries declined to indict either police officer.
The UNC die-in is one of eight protests scheduled Wednesday at medical schools throughout the country. Others will be held in New York, Boston, Cleveland, Los Angeles and Chicago.
