ESTERO, Fla. (AP) — Keifer Sykes scored 20 points and Green Bay survived two missed shots by Evansville in the closing seconds to escape with a 64-62 win Tuesday at the Gulf Coast Showcase.
Adam Wing's layup put Evansville (3-1) ahead 55-54 with 5:26 to play but Sykes answered with a three-point play and followed with another basket to put the Phoenix (3-1) ahead for good
D.J. Balentine made two free throws to bring the Aces within 63-62 with 1:21 to go and after a turnover he had a chance to put his team ahead but missed a 3-pointer. Carrington Love grabbed the rebound and made 1 of 2 free throws with 16 seconds left.
After a timeout, Evansville's Taylor Stafford missed a 3-pointer and Blake Simmons missed the putback at the buzzer.
Jaylon Moore had 13 points and Simmons and Balentine had 12 each for Evansville.
