SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (AP) — One person was killed and two people seriously injured in an early morning single-car crash at South Lake Tahoe.
South Lake Tahoe Police say a 21-year-old South Tahoe woman killed in the accident was a passenger in the four-door sedan that hit a retaining wall on Pioneer Trail about 4:30 a.m. Monday.
The accident near April Drive closed Pioneer Trail for several hours.
The 20-year-old driver from South Tahoe and a 25-year-old passenger from Sacramento were flown a Reno hospital for treatment of their injuries.
No names have been released.
Police Chief Brian Uhler told Lake Tahoe News the car appeared to be going at a high rate of speed. He says there were several hundred feet of skid marks on the pavement.
The accident remains under investigation.
