Cal Poly beats San Diego 34-3 in season ender

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Backup quarterback Dano Graves rushed for two touchdowns as Cal Poly scored 20 points in the second half to smother San Diego 34-3 in a nonconference season ender on Saturday.

Despite the loss, San Diego (9-2) is Pioneer League champion and qualified for the FCS playoffs. The team announced it would gather Sunday morning to watch the selection show to find out its opponent and location in the Nov. 29 first round.

Cal Poly finishes 7-5 and third at 5-3 in the Big Sky.

San Diego ran just 62 offensive plays, gaining 234 total yards, punting six times for 235.

Cal Poly rushed for 341 yards with Graves netting 94 and starting QB Chis Brown 93. Brown, who didn't play in the second half because of a leg injury, also passed for 64 yards with a touchdown toss to Jordan Hines. Graves passed to Chris Nicholls for another TD.
