SALT LAKE CITY — Two members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Quorum of the Twelve and other LDS leaders will speak at Family Discovery Day in February, RootsTech announced Friday.

RootsTech, the largest family history conference in the world, will feature messages from Elder Neil L. Andersen and Elder Quentin L. Cook, L. Whitney Clayton of the Presidency of the Seventy, Young Women General President Bonnie L. Oscarson and additional church leaders Feb. 14 as part of the free event at the Salt Palace Convention Center.

Family Discovery Day, hosted by the LDS Church and FamilySearch, is specifically designed to help families and members age 8 and up find and discover family names, prepare those names for temple ordinances, and teach family members and friends how to get started with family history.

Also speaking during the day will be Olympic silver medalist Noelle Pikus-Pace and popular Mormon blogger Al Fox Carraway.

“My family means absolutely everything to me,” Pikus-Pace said in a press release of her involvement with Family Discovery Day. “I’m so grateful to my ancestors for paving the way for me to be where I am today. Coming together like this, to celebrate families, is a wonderful opportunity for each one of us.”

The day will conclude with a performance by the cast of BYUtv’s "Studio C" and another entertainer, who will be announced later.

According to a RootsTech press release, Family Discovery Day in 2014 attracted more than 6,000 attendees through speakers, classes and an expo hall with hundreds of exhibitors and interactive booths.

Although admission is free, registration at RootsTech.org is required.
