DURHAM, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire Transportation Commissioner Christopher Clement is heading back to his alma mater — the University of New Hampshire — to be head of finance and administration.
Clement has been commissioner for six years, weathering department challenges that included Tropical Storm Irene and the record October 2011 snowstorm.
As commissioner, Clement manages a $700 million operating budget, a $3 billion capital program and oversees nearly 1,700 employees.
UNH president Mark Huddleston says Clement will bring a track record of innovation and efficiency to the college as it heads into the biennial budget cycle.
Before becoming commissioner he was director of global commercial press product management for Goss International in Durham for 19 years.
He graduated from UNH in 1994 with a degree in mechanical engineering technology.
