Memphis, Tenn. - Salt Lake dominated Memphis Thursday night at AutoZone Park shutting out the Redbirds 9-0 to win the series.
Kendry Morales gave the Bees all the offense they would need in the first inning with a grand slam after the first three batters of the game had reached safely. Five different Bees had multi-hit games with Terry Evans leading the way with three of the team's 14 hits. Salt Lake outscored Memphis 28-12 over the final three games to take the series three games to one.
Memphis was shutout for the first time this season collecting a season-low five hits. Brian Barden led the team with two hits. Redbirds starter Blake Hawksworth fell to 0-10 all-time at AutoZone Park and 0-4 on the season after giving up eight runs, five earned, on seven hits and five walks over five innings.
Nick Green earned the win for Salt Lake with 6.2 strong innings. The right-hander walked three and scattered three hits to go along with four strikeouts. Rich Thompson pitched the final 2.1 innings and allowed two hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
