NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) — Gus Johnson ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns and Zach Conque passed for 160 yards to give Stephen F. Austin a 27-17 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday.
Southeastern, trailing 20-10 midway in the fourth quarter, drove to SFA's 17 where Patrick Martin picked off a pass, returning it 77 yards. Conque then ran the ball three straight times and scored from the 10 to seal the victory for SFA (6-2, 3-1 Southland Conference).
Southeastern (6-3, 4-1), which had been the only team undefeated in conference play, quickly came back as Bryan Bennett hit Jeff Smiley on an 83-yard scoring strike to close the gap to 27-17 with 2:24 remaining. The ensuing onside kick was recovered by the Lumberjacks.
Johnson, who now has 1,102 yards rushing on the season, also caught two passes for a total of 25 yards.
Bennett passed for 186 yards and one touchdown.
