HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a former Oregon high school teacher who sexually abused a 16-year-old student has been sentenced to prison for a probation violation.
The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/hdvcBU ) that Washington County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Vance Stimler says 40-year-old Denise Keesee will serve 14 months. Court records show she appeared in Circuit Court on Friday for a probation violation hearing.
Records show she was arrested after she failed to disclose that she was in an area where teens gather, in violation of her probation.
The former Sherwood High School teacher was sentenced last April to 30 days in custody with five years' probation. At the time, Presiding Judge Kirsten Thompson said if Keesee violated her probation, she could face more than a year in prison.
The woman was also required to register as a sex offender, surrender her teaching license, complete sex offender treatment and have no contact with teens unless approved by her probation officer.
