COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Department of Health says all hospitals in the state have completed Ebola preparedness drills.
The health department says the response drills have included training in how to manage a suspected Ebola-positive patient and the proper use of personal protective equipment.
Even though there have been no confirmed cases in the state, health officials urged hospitals to be prepared. Department director Richard Hodges last week called on all hospitals in the state to conduct a series of training and practice drills.
The state has been on alert since a Texas nurse, 29-year-old Amber Vinson, was diagnosed with the virus after visiting northeast Ohio earlier this month. Vinson helped care for a Liberian man with Ebola who died at a Dallas hospital.
Doctors say Vinson no longer has it.
