SALT LAKE CITY — Police are looking for three men who they say forced their way into a woman's home early Friday after meeting her hours earlier.

A woman, 18, living in a home near 900 South and 500 East heard a knock on her door around 12:15 a.m. Friday. When she opened the door, three men forced their way inside, according to Salt Lake Police Lt. Eddie Cameron. One of the men had a gun and another had brass knuckles.

"She tried to push them out. Her roommate, who was also upstairs, came out and saw the scuffle, kind of," Cameron said. "Sometime inside the house during the struggle, one female, got hit in the face with a gun. No major injury, just a small scrape."

Two of the men stole two laptops from the residence and then all men left, he said. It was unclear whether the men fled in a vehicle or on foot.

The woman who answered the door told police she had met the men at a Taco Bell restaurant, 621 E. 400 South, Thursday night. They exchanged phone numbers and were texting back and forth, police said. The woman told police she believed the men were driving a white, four-door passenger vehicle when she met them at the restaurant.

Investigators did not know if the men followed her home. They were looking through the text messages for additional evidence and were trying to obtain security footage from the restaurant.

The three men were described as being in their late 20s. One was white, about 6 feet tall with medium build; another was a Hispanic man, 5 feet 8 inches tall with dark hair and a mustache. The third man was black, 5 feet 7 inches, with a "stocky" build, and with afro-style hair cut into a flat top, Cameron said.

The woman who was hit in the face was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
