TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A Twin Falls man who moved to Texas has been charged with throwing bleach into another man's eyes.

The Times-News reports (http://bit.ly/ZjedeK ) John King Bell was arraigned this week on a charge of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.

Bell told officers that last June he threw bleach at a man who punched him after speeding through the parking lot of the hotel where Bell was manager. Bell said he used the bleach as self-defense.

But the man told police Bell refused to let him leave; when he threatened to punch Bell, the manager splashed the bleach. Some of it got in a woman's ear.

A chemical burn damaged the man's cornea, as well as the woman's ear canal and eardrum.

A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 31.
