LAYTON, Utah (AP) -- A jury has awarded a Layton woman $10 million because it says the manufacturer of the acne medication Accutane downplays the drug's risks.
The woman's attorney, Michael Hook, says he represents about 500 other people who will sue the company for the same claims. Kamie Kendall was the third of Hook's clients to win a lawsuit against Roche USA, the New Jersey-based maker of Accutane.
The jury found in Kendall's favor last week. The drug's warning label says Accutane is "associated with" inflammatory bowel disease. But Hook says Roches internal research proves there is a direct link.
