LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) — Former Slovakian coach Lubomir Mick has been hired as an assistant on USA Luge's staff for this season.

Mick coached Slovakian sliders, plus was the team's sled-builder and designer, from 2007 through this past season.

Also, USA Luge has hired Keith Younger to serve as the team manager. Younger previously spent eight years as the team manager for the U.S. junior national team, and will oversee logistics and video duties.

Some of the team's sliders and coaches depart Wednesday to begin on-ice training for the season in Lillehammer, Norway. Training is expected to start at the team's home base in Lake Placid in mid-October.
