MIAMI (AP) — Police say a passenger who died in a fall aboard a cruise ship at a Miami dock was a South Carolina man.

Miami-Dade County police say in a news release that 20-year-old Kendall Wernet of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, died in what appeared to be an accidental fall Monday aboard the Carnival Ecstasy ship.

The ship was docked at Miami's port when Wernet apparently climbed its forward mast in a restricted area and fell to the deck below. Police said he fell a distance equal to two decks on the ship. Wernet was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police say there is no evidence of foul play, and all signs point to the death as an accident.
