VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Joe Vitale had a goal and an assist, Mike Smith made 23 saves and the Arizona Coyotes defeated the Vancouver Canucks 4-2 Monday night.

Brandon McMillan, Shane Doan and David Moss also scored for the Coyotes, who improved to 4-0-2 in exhibition play. Oliver Ekman-Larsson added two assists.

Derek Dorsett and Radim Vrbata scored for Vancouver, which got 31 saves from free-agent addition Ryan Miller.

The score was tied 1-all before the Coyotes scored twice in the second period.

MacMillan made it 2-1 at 10:55 when his shot was stopped by Miller and rebounded in off Vancouver defenseman Luca Sbisa. Doan then stretched the lead to two on a power play with 1:15 left, deflecting home Mikkel Boedker's shot from the point.

Canucks defenseman Frank Corrado sustained an upper-body injury in the second and did not return.
