DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — A Reno man who has been living in North Dakota is accused of making a telephone threat that led to a lockdown of Dickinson schools. Thirty-eight-year-old David Viator faces a felony terrorizing charge that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. Police say Viator called a national crisis hotline last week and made reference to a mass homicide, and the call was traced to a prepaid cellphone in Dickinson.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Washoe County School District has received a nearly $1 million federal grant for anti-violence programs, nearly a year after a deadly schoolyard shooting in Sparks. Gov. Brian Sandoval said it will support programs designed to keep students safe. District Director of Counseling Katherine Loudon says the Sparks Middle School shooting Oct. 21 was a factor in the award.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A federal judge has refused to block the release of oil and gas leases in Nevada. Judge Miranda Du ruled she has no authority to grant opponents' request for an emergency order to prevent the leases. Critics say hydraulic fracturing could harm sage grouse and cause more environmental damage than the BLM admits.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign is getting a new next-door neighbor in the form of a sprawling Harley-Davidson dealership. Owners say the 55,000-square-foot business set to open this week is the first store on the Strip to sell the bikes.
