SPRINGVILLE, Utah (AP) — Authorities say five people have been found dead in a home near Provo. Springville police spokesman Lt. Dave Caron says in a news release that the bodies were found were found about 8 p.m. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that police say the bodies are those of a couple and their three children.
TOOELE, Utah (AP) — Dozens of young people attending an outdoor party in the Utah high desert were rescued early yesterday after heavy rain left them stranded in mud. Authorities estimate 100 people gathered for the party and bonfire late Friday near Lone Rock, about 50 miles west of Salt Lake City. County Emergency Management Director Bucky Whitehouse says a couple of inches of rain caused about 30 vehicles to become stuck.
PROVO, Utah (AP) — A group of Brigham Young University students is protesting the Mormon church-owned school's ban on something its namesake once sported: a beard. About 50 students biked, skateboarded or in-line skated their way from the Provo City Library to campus during the "Bike for Beards" protest on Friday night. Protest organizer Shane Pittson says he finds the ban on facial hair other than mustaches outdated.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — More than half a dozen firms are interested in building a large convention hotel in the heart of Salt Lake City, a project that comes with $75 million in possible tax credits. Salt Lake County records show about 60 people representing local and out-of-state developers, architects and construction firms attended a recent meeting about the project.
