SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Bryan Bennett threw two touchdown passes and rushed for two more as Southeastern Louisiana routed Incarnate Word 63-7 in its Southland Conference opener on Saturday night.
Bennett finished with 212 yards passing and ran for 89. He scored both of his rushing touchdowns in the first half and threw a 4-yard score to Jeff Smiley to make it 28-7 at halftime.
Kody Sutton had one of the Lions' seven rushing touchdowns and finished with 104 yards on 16 carries. Eugene Bethea, Marquis Hayes, Rasheed Harrell and Jordan Barnett had the other rushing touchdowns for Southeastern Louisiana (3-2, 1-0 Southland).
Incarnate Word's (0-5, 0-2) lone score came on a 24-yard pass from wide receiver Kody Edwards to Cole Wick that made it 21-7 in the second quarter. The Cardinals were held to 166 total yards.
Devante Scott had 5 receptions for 99 yards and a touchdown for the Lions.
