BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Federal officials say the area in eastern Idaho infested with a microscopic parasite that damages potato crops is up to 2,400 acres. The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that the 22 infested fields are within a 5-mile radius and are located in northern Bingham County and southern Bonneville County.

KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) — An alternative energy company has applied for a 50-year state lease to build a $2 million, 50-acre solar project in central Idaho. Ketchum-based Sagebrush Solar wants to install about 3,600 solar panels on six acres in Ohio Gulch north of Hailey. Sagebrush Solar owner Billy Mann tells the Idaho Mountain Express that the decreasing cost of solar energy has created financial incentives for entrepreneurs.

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — An eastern Idaho high school football coach has been suspended indefinitely, but school officials are not saying why. School District 25 officials suspended Pocatello High School coach Tom Harrison on Wednesday. In an interview with KIFI-TV, Harrison denied allegations the suspension is the result of verbally abusing players.

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — The Pocatello Zoo in southeast Idaho has a new grizzly bear. The 2-year-old female weighing about 200 pounds arrived yesterday morning after being captured Monday in Wyoming where she had become habituated to humans. Zoo Superintendent Peter Pruett says the bear will remain in quarantine for 30 days.
