NEW YORK (AP) — Sandy'z Slew splashed to a 1 1/2-length victory over Knockher Off in the mud Thursday in the $77,000 allowance feature at Belmont Park.
The 4-5 favorite, Sandy'z Slew was never worse than second at any point in the race originally scheduled for the turf. Junior Alvarado was aboard for trainer Rick Schosberg as the 4-year-old gelding won for the fourth time in 17 starts. The time was 1:10.61 for six furlongs.
Sandy's Slew paid $3.60, $2.40 and $2.20. Knockher Off returned $4.20 and $2.40, and Shore Runner paid $2.70 to show.
