COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The Dorn Veterans Affairs Medical Center is hosting a meeting for veterans and their families to offer health care and benefit information.

Spokesman Kevin McIver says Wednesday's event begins with an "outreach fair" from 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. in the Medallion Center at 7309 Garner's Ferry Road.

Following is a town hall meeting at the same site from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

VA leaders have said the agency must work to earn the trust of veterans. That trust has been eroded in the wake of the VA scandal over long patient waits and falsified records at VA hospitals and clinics across the country.

Free parking is available in the No. 1 parking lot and the overflow parking lot.
