HOUSTON (AP) — Houston police were called in to break up a brawl at a private school that sent two students to the hospital and one to jail.

Officers responded Tuesday to a fight that involved at least 10 students at the Hope Academy charter high school in southeast Houston.

A department spokesman tells KPRC-TV it's unclear what started the fight that began off-campus and ended in a gymnasium. No weapons were involved.

Police say a pregnant girl and an asthmatic girl were taken to an area hospital with unreported injuries. Their conditions are unclear.

Officers took a student into custody who they say had outstanding warrants and was publicly intoxicated. It's unclear if charges have been filed.

The school's superintendent tells KHOU-TV that three students were expelled and seven were suspended.
